WELCOME TO ROMANCING THE GOLD COAST


Welcome all to my latest endeavor, “Romancing the Gold Coast”, a Historical Romance Event…

Several years ago, an author friend took me to dinner and told me about a premier event that would highlight all things historical. I was intrigued, but finding out that the event was clear across the US, on the West Coast, made me sad. For most of us living on the East Coast, it’s an issue to plan for an event so distant.

Since I have decided to retire the Book Obsessed Chicks Beach BBQ Bash in 2019, my mind began spinning about doing an historical event on the historic Gold Coast of Long Island. Those of us living in the tristate area have been spoiled by the abundance of historic sites. Since I was able to explore the Island on my own, I have frequented, Westbury Gardens, the Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium and Sagamore Hill. There is so much to do here on Long Island and I want to share that with everyone.
Searching for the prefect site was easy. I needed a Mansion with hotel rooms. The Mansion at Glen Cove, formerly Harrison House, is a wonderful location.

Explaining the event to the Mansion event coordinator was a feat, since she is used to weddings, but I prevailed and received a proposal for the event last week.

Here is the tentative event proposal as with time, the schedule will firm up.

Thursday, October 1,2020 - Event Registration

Friday, October 2, 2020 - Registration Continues and  Welcome Tea Party on Manor Patio Menu to include: a variety of infused teas, finger sandwiches, assorted scones, petit fours and more

Saturday, October 3,2020 - Book Signing  Costume ball Dinner Party- 7pm to 11pm Menu to include: cocktail hour with passed hor d’oeuvres and Stations followed by a 3 course plated dinner

Sunday is check out, but there will also be a bus tour to Long Island's North Fork wineries, which is an a la carte event. More information on this event to come.

 The Mansion Hotel Rooms - By reservation, using Romancing the Coast when calling to reserve. The conference cost is available to all attendees the day before the event until the Monday after the event.

Standard King at $175 per night including breakfast for 2
Premium King and Deluxe Double (2 full beds) at $195 per night including breakfast for 2
Note: Price quoted is exclusive of hotel taxes of 11.625%.

Registration is $400.00 per person, which can be paid in installments via PayPal

This first year, I honestly just wanted to focus on the readers spending valuable face time with their favorite authors and meeting new to them authors, and taking advantage of the stellar surroundings of Long Island’s North Fork (Gold Coast). I think keeping it simple is best. Any input s very welcome. Please let me know if you are interested in joining in!

  5. I just went to the Williamsburg event and it was wonderful. Everyone was talking about this and I am registering. Hopefully some I just met will go and looking forward to this event!
